How asset and equipment finance works through a broker

Asset finance lets you buy or use a vehicle, machine or piece of equipment and pay for it over time, with the asset usually acting as security. 360 Asset Finance is a specialist asset and equipment finance broker, not a lender. We work with a panel of lenders across Australia and New Zealand, compare options for your asset and help with the application through to settlement. The lender you choose provides the finance and decides whether to approve it.

Is 360 Asset Finance a lender or a broker?

We're a specialist asset and equipment finance broker. We work with a curated panel of lenders across Australia and New Zealand and arrange funding for vehicles, plant, equipment and business assets. We're not tied to one lender, so we compare options across our panel for your deal. Each lender assesses the application against its own criteria.

What assets can be financed?

  • Motor vehicles: new and used cars, utes and vans for personal or business use.
  • Trucks and heavy vehicles: prime movers, rigid trucks, trailers and specialist heavy vehicles.
  • Yellow goods and earthmoving: excavators, loaders, dozers, graders and skid steers.
  • Plant and equipment: manufacturing equipment, forklifts, cranes, generators and industrial machinery.
  • Other assets: medical assets, IT hardware, marine and aviation.

All funding is subject to the lender's assessment.

Who do we help?

  • Small and medium businesses acquiring vehicles, equipment or fit-out.
  • Sole traders and contractors funding the tools of their trade.
  • Transport and logistics operators expanding or replacing a fleet.
  • Construction and civil contractors financing earthmoving and plant.
  • Medical and allied health practices equipping clinics and surgeries.
  • Individuals looking for a car loan or personal loan.

How does the process work?

  1. Tell us what you need. Describe the asset, the amount and your timeline.
  2. We compare lenders. We look for options from our panel of specialist asset finance providers that fit your deal.
  3. We manage the process. We prepare the application, work with the lender and keep you updated through to settlement.
  4. You get the asset. Once the lender approves and settles, funds are released and repayments are set up to suit your cash flow.

Who owns the asset during the term depends on the structure you choose, such as a chattel mortgage, lease or commercial hire purchase.

What should I have ready?

Every lender sets its own requirements, but it helps to have:

  • details of the asset, such as a quote or invoice from the supplier, and whether it's new or used
  • the amount you need and when you need it
  • identification for each applicant, director or guarantor
  • business details, such as your ABN, if the asset is for business use
  • evidence of income or business performance, such as bank statements or financial statements
  • details of your existing debts and other finance.

Your broker will tell you what the lender needs for your deal.

Does it matter whether the asset is for personal or business use?

Yes. Depending on whether the asset is for personal or business use, different rules apply. If the finance is mainly for personal or household use, such as a car for the family, consumer credit laws apply and we must check that the loan meets your needs and that you can afford the repayments. Finance for a business asset is generally treated differently. Your broker will explain which rules apply to your application.

Do you work in New Zealand?

Yes. We operate across Australia and New Zealand and work with lenders on both sides of the Tasman. New Zealand finance is arranged through our New Zealand company, 360 Asset Finance Limited.

FAQs

How long does approval take?

It depends on the deal, the documents provided and the lender. Once we have a complete application, we'll give you an expected timeframe for that lender.

Can I finance a used asset?

Yes for used cars, utes and vans. For other used assets, it depends on the asset, its age and condition, and the lender's criteria.

Can you help with a fleet?

Yes. From your first ute to a full fleet, we help you plan each purchase, upgrade and addition as your business grows, subject to the lender's assessment of each application.

Can you help with property or software finance too?

Yes. We're part of the 360 group, so we can connect you with 360 MMS for property finance or 360 SaaSFin for software finance.
